Hinshaw will be the replacement for Chip Lindsey, who recently left the Knights to take the offensive coordinator job at North Carolina.
Aided by Lindsey, UCF ranked 17th nationally in total offense this season on its way to a 9-5 finish, including 6-2 in AAC play.
The Knights are set to move up to the Big 12 next season.
