UCF OL Marcellus Marshall plans to enter transfer portal
UCF offensive lineman Marcellus Marshall plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he announced via social media on Monday.
He released a statement to go along with his post announcing his portal intentions.
“First, I want to thank God for the countless blessings and opportunities He has brought into my life,” he wrote. “I am also grateful for my entire support system for their love and support throughout my journey.
“To UCF and Knight Nation: Thank you for the memories, relationships, and opportunities you have given me over the past two years. Thank you, Coach Malzahn for the opportunity to play and lead at this team. Coach Hand thank you for all that you have done for me and the life lessons you have taught me. To my teammates and the staff, thank you for making this program feel like family.
“With that being said, after much prayer and reflection, I am announcing my decision to enter the transfer portal with 1 year of eligibility remaining. My recruitment is 100% open, and I’m excited to see what God has in store for me in this next step of life. Thank you all for the continued support.”

Marshall is a former three-star recruit out of the 2020 recruit class. He was the No. 2,066 overall recruit in that group, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 5 overall player in the state of West Virginia and No. 210 overall offensive lineman.
He originally committed to Kent State out of high school, but transferred to UCF ahead of the 2023 college football season where he has stayed ever since. His decision comes after former head coach Gus Malzahn was announced as the next Florida State offensive coordinator.
