UCF transfer Mikey Williams has a visit on the books, a source tells On3. The former four-star recruit will visit UNLV in the near future the source said, and continues to talk to a range of Power Four and mid-major schools.

Memphis is among a number of teams that have been in contact with Williams, as On3 previously reported. Williams is prioritizing playing a key role on a team opposed to a backup role that he’s been offered by several teams.

UNLV recently hired former Georgia Tech and ESPN analyst Josh Pastner, following the firing of Kevin Kruger. Williams played in 18 games with five starts for the Knights this season, averaging 5.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. Williams was previously at Memphis before transferring to UCF last offseason.

The former four-star recruit never played at Memphis, though. Despite enrolling at Memphis in the fall of 2023, he was taking online classes and never practiced with the team. The guard faced nine felony charges after a shooting near his home in California in 2023, leading to his absence. However, he reached a plea deal in November 2023, securing that he would not have to face jail time and could return to basketball.

According to a previous statement from his attorney, Troy Owens, Williams’ decision to leave the Tigers was related to the institution possibly not allowing the former four-star recruit to play the 2024-25 season.

“Weeks went by and Mr. Williams stopped receiving responses from the University,” Owens said in the statement in January 2024. “It became clear to Mr. Williams that having him play this season was not a priority for the University. What was even more frustrating was that Mr. Williams learned that the committee [review] was also going to decide whether, or not, he would be allowed to play in the 2024-2025 season.”

Back in 2021, Mikey Williams became the first American high school basketball player to ink a multi-year deal with Puma. At the time, the prep phenom had more than 5 million combined Instagram, TikTok and Twitter followers.
