UCLA and Boise State will each be making their second straight postseason appearances when they meet in the LA Bowl – a game that, this season, will be hosted by Rob Gronkowski. Now, with the Bruins and Broncos set to play in mid-December inside SoFi Stadium, Vegas has weighed in on the matchup with their odds for the game.

Per the line at FanDuel, UCLA is a 2.5-point favorite over Boise State. The over/under for the game is at 49.5 points.

UCLA will get a nice boost by playing the bowl game in a stadium that’s fewer than 15 miles and less than a half hour from campus. It’s also a plus that they will still have a head coach in preparation for this game. That’s because, after some controversy, the program decided to retain Chip Kelly.

The Bruins finished with a 7-5 record, including a 4-5 mark in the Pac-12, in 2023. They did so, for the most part, on the back of their defense. They finished as a Top-15 unit by allowing just 18.1 points per game.

However, after a 4-1 start, they essentially traded wins and losses over the final seven games with a 1-3 finish providing an unsatisfactory end to their year. After losing the Sun Bowl last season, though, they could post a third straight finish of eight wins or more with a win.

As for Boise State, the Mountain West champs have become quite the success story in their own right. After a 5-5 start, the Broncos moved on from Andy Avalos after two and a half seasons. In their three games since that decision, they’ve gone undefeated under Spencer Danielson. That included this weekend’s 44-20 victory over UNLV to win the league for the fifth time.

Since that 24-point win over the Rebels, they have named Danielson as the official head coach on Sunday. Now, Boise State will look to win their second straight bowl win after a three-point victory over North Texas in the Frisco Bowl last year.

Boise State could finish their season with a statement by knocking off a team out of the Pac-12. On the other hand, it’s up to UCLA to protect their home turf by securing an eighth victory over the Broncos.
