UCLA transfer quarterback Collin Schlee commits to Virginia Tech
Former UCLA quarterback Collin Schlee has committed to Virginia Tech out of the NCAA transfer portal, he announced on his Twitter account on Tuesday night.
Schlee was very productive for Kent State in 2022 before transferring to UCLA and being passed up on the depth chart in 2023.
As a third-year player in 2022, Schlee accounted for 2,109 passing yards and 13 touchdowns, to go against just five interceptions. He also ran for 492 yards and four scores.
Even when he hasn’t gotten a ton of run at quarterback Schlee has found ways to get onto the field thanks to his athleticism. In four seasons in college he has run for 1,129 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Schlee now enters a Virginia Tech quarterback room that was still looking to find a backup behind starter Kyron Drones.
During spring football practice William “Pop” Watson III competed with Dylan Wittke for the job. Watson appeared to come out ahead, and Wittke entered the transfer portal and committed to Minnesota.
Now Schlee will join the mix, competing with Watson for the backup job.
Prior to enrolling at Kent State, Collin Schlee was a three-star prospect and the No. 1,952 overall recruit in the country in the 2019 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

Virginia Tech linebacker enters transfer portal
Along with Dylan Wittke, Virginia Tech linebacker Tavorian Copeland has entered his name into the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. Copeland was a redshirt freshman for the Hokies this past season.
A three-star prospect coming out of Appomattox County High School in Appomattox, Va., Copeland was among the top 50 players in his home state of Virginia. he chose to play for the Hokies over offers from Virginia, William and Mary, and Richmond, among others.
Just a true freshman during the 2023 season, Copeland did not see any game action for Virginia Tech. Rather, Copeland took a redshirt and watched from the sidelines. Now, he will look for a new home to continue his college football career.
