UConn Basketball: Jaylin Stewart commits to Huskies, Dan Hurley

Seattle (Wash.) Garfield four-star recruit Jaylin Stewart tells On3 he has committed to UConn.

Stewart, a 6-foot-5 class of 2023 small forward, chose the Huskies over scholarship offers from Alabama, USC, Oklahoma, and others.

The Washington native is UConn’s fourth commitment in the class. He joins four-star SG Stephon Castle (No. 23), four-star SG Solomon Ball (No. 62), and three-star SF Jayden Ross (No. 144).

Stewart ranks as the No. 83 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. This summer, Stewart averaged 16.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game for Seattle Rotary (WA) on the EYBL Circuit. He also shot 48 percent from the field and 31 percent from three.

Stewart discusses his commitment to UConn

“I chose UConn because I feel like they made an extra effort to show that I was going to be a key piece in what they got going on,” Stewart said to On3. “When I was on the visit I clicked with all the players and the coaching staff are already close to my family so it was the perfect fit for me.”

What type of player is UConn getting in Jaylin Stewart?

“The program is going to get a player that can put the ball in the hoop in every way and give effort on the defensive end and rebound and most importantly, a player that wants to win,” he says.

Stewart has a message for Husky fans.

“I want to thank the UConn fans for showing a lot of love while I was on the visit and just always showing me love on social media too. I can’t wait to be a part of the family!”
