There’s no brighter star in women’s college basketball at the moment than Paige Bueckers. The star point guard for Connecticut has been a revelation for the Huskies since arriving on campus last season.

On Saturday, she’s hoping to lead UConn to victory over Indiana in the Sweet 16. However, Bueckers went down with an injury with a little less than three minutes remaining in the first quarter, down 14-13.

“And Paige Bueckers, grabbing at her left knee, as she is helped up,” remarked the broadcasting team, as the star guard was in obvious pain.

Immediately, Bueckers was helped up and jogged over to the bench. Once she got to the UConn sidelines, she began grimacing, with a noticeable limp.

“Paige limping over towards the UConn bench,” stated the broadcasting team. “We will obviously keep an eye on that, as Paige undoes her brace, and grabs at her left knee.”

Afterwards, the star UConn guard was seen getting her knee re-taped. Then, Bueckers was seen walking with a little more pep in her step along the Huskies bench.

“Guys, they quickly just added an extra level of kinesio-tape. It’s a supportive tape that helps stop inflammation, as well,” reported ESPN’s Holly Rowe. “The athletic trainer quickly applied that, and Paige is back in.”

As Rowe mentions, Bueckers has since checked back into the game, surpassing the injury scare. It’s been a tough season for the Huskies guard health-wise, but it looks like Bueckers caught a break on Saturday.

Since the incident, UConn has gone on a run of their own. Led by guard Azzi Fudd and her nine points, the Huskies currently possess a 35-26 lead over Indiana.

As you can see, UConn survived a gigantic scare with Paige Bueckers. If the Huskies are going to capture another championship, they’ll need their star on the court.
