UNC commit GG Jackson takes over No. 1 spot in On3 Consensus
Columbia (S.C.) Ridge View five-star forward and North Carolina commit GG Jackson is the new consensus No. 1 prospect, taking over the top spot Thursday in the 2023 On3 Consensus.
Jackson has been the No. 1 recruit in the On3 ranking since the middle of March.
Camden (N.J.) five-star guard Dajuan Wagner Jr. is No. 2 in the On3 Consensus with Duncanville (Texas) five-star forward Ronald Holland rounding out the top three.
“Ranking the top of any class, you look toward the player’s NBA prospects,” On3’s Jamie Shaw wrote in March. “GG Jackson has the positional size you want from a forward. His ball skills have developed into him being a one-on-one threat from the wing. The three-point range is developing into a respectable weapon, and he has excellent timing as a weak-side shot-blocker. The confidence is expanding, and there is a sense he knows he is the best player on each floor he walks on.”

GG Jackson also leads North Carolina’s No. 1-ranked recruiting class
GG Jackson committed to the Tar Heels in April, telling On3’s Joe Tipton that the team’s play in the NCAA Tournament was a convincing factor.
“The run that they made in the tournament and talking with coach Hubert Davis about the new playing style that they have at UNC, I saw that I would fit perfectly,” Jackson said when he committed.
North Carolina has one other commit in their 2023 recruiting class: Roselle (N.J.) Roselle Catholic five-star guard Simeon Wilcher. Wilcher is the No. 15 prospect in the 2023 On3 Consensus.
The duo ranks as the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.
