In fact, today’s bout marks the 17th time Kentucky and North Carolina have clashed in December since the 2000 season. These teams are playing each other in December two out of every three seasons this century, while it’s UNC who has the edge in the overall rivalry by a handful of games.

As of early Saturday morning, FanDuel has the line set at North Carolina -1.5. So the Tar Heels at favored by a point-and-a-half in this neutral site bash in Atlanta and are currently -122 on the moneyline.

Meanwhile, Kentucky is the +1.5 underdog and sits just over even at +102 on the moneyline. Lastly, the over/under is set at a pretty lofty 164.5 points, since these two teams are immensely talented and itching to run it up and down the court. Plus, neither club is particularly strong on the defensive side of the basketball.

Final score predictions for North Carolina vs. Kentucky

According to numbers provided by KenPom, North Carolina is also favored in its rating system. He foresees a UNC win by just two points and believes they have a 55% to win the ball game over a Kentucky team that’s just a hair behind Carolina in the rankings.

KenPom also predicts an exact final score of 85-83, which would surpass the FanDuel over/under of 164.5 at 168. So there’s perhaps a gambling tip in there for those of you in certain states.

Meanwhile, ESPN’s BPI, the Basketball Power Index, surprise surprise, also has North Carolina coming away victorious by a slim margin. The BPI prefers the Tar Heels by less 0.9 points over the Wildcats and believes they have a 53.1% chance of winning the game overall.

So this metric appears to like Kentucky’s chances just a slight bit more than the others. Plus, it also rates the games of the day on a scale of 1-100. Arizona-Purdue obviously took the cake for today but Kentucky-Carolina came in as the BPI’s second-best college hoops of the game with a 93.3 matchup quality.
