BRADENTON, Fla. – Dozens of the nation’s top prospects are at IMG Academy this weekend for Under Armour Future 50. The on-field portion of the event began Saturday morning with position drills and 1-on-1s. The afternoon session was made up of 7-on-7, and big man challenge.

Biggest riser

Oklahoma commitment Adepoju Adebawore takes home the biggest riser award from Future 50. The 6-foot-4.5, 223-pounder is full of athletic twitch and high-ceiling upside and an 84-inch wingspan. The No. 20 ranked prospect in the On300 impressed with his explosive movement skills in drills to begin the day. He attacks every rep full speed, to the point of defensive line instructor Nathan O’Neal telling him to pace himself. Adedawore displayed exceptional bend, hip flexibility, agility and balance racing past would be blockers to begin 1-on-1’s. As explosive as the future Sooners edge rusher looked Saturday, it’s his physical upside that impresses the most. He’s a long ways away from physically filling out, and becoming an all-around player on the edge. We also clocked Adebawore in the 6.90 second range in the 3-cone drill. That’s an elite mark for a NFL EDGE prospect, let alone a rising senior in high school.

Stock Up

Notre Dame verbal Peyton Bowen is a prospect in the 2023 cycle that is getting stronger and faster at the same time. He has the best combination of feel, instinct and explosive speed and quickness at the safety position in the cycle. That speed has been clocked at 4.40 or slightly better twice this summer, including Saturday. Bowen is not only very productive on tape for Denton Guyer High, but also excels in the camp setting. He had an interception Saturday, along with displaying sound eyes from his safety spot. Notre Dame is in a fight with Texas A&M to keep the On3 Consensus 4-star in the fold.

LSU commitment DaShawn Womack flashed the best pass rush in the camp Saturday. That was evident in the morning and afternoon session. The No. 58 ranked prospect in the On300 displayed both patience, and an impressive transfer of quickness/speed to power throughout the day. He won the majority of 1-on-1’s with a combination of quick initial movement skills, quick hands and an understanding of how use his length as leverage. In the afternoon session, he easily beat Oklahoma commit Cayden Green in the big man challenge.

Speaking of Oklahoma commit Cayden Green, the On3 Consensus 4-star had a very productive day in Bradenton. Green displayed very quick feet and reactive quickness in drills, and 1-on-1’s. He possesses the required length and body quickness to be a swing player at the next level, but we feel is best suited for interior. As he adds strength to his frame in both the upper and lower body, his initial punch power will improve. Green entered the weekend No. 298 in the On300, but performed beyond that ranking.

Kansas State commitment Dylan Edwards is explosive. Meaning he’s both initially quick and fast. His ability to accelerate past linebacker stood out Saturday. He routinely raced past linebackers in 7-on-7 reps. Not only is he fast, but flashed excellent change of direction to keep defenders on heels. After showing some shaky moments catching the football at a prior camp this spring, the Derby High playmaker was consistent catching the ball Saturday. And there is little doubt that Edwards will draw comparisons to Kansas State running back Deuce Vaughn now, and in the future. They are similar in stature, and explosive movement skills. Edwards entered the event as a high 3-star in the On3 prospect rankings.

It can be difficult for an On3 Consensus 5-star to appear on a stock up list at a loaded event. Miami verbal Francis Mauigoa accomplished the rare feat this weekend. the 6-foot-6, 325-pounder is a first off the bus level prospect with a strong, perfectly proportioned frame. Then when it comes time to move the feet, he does so with high-end agility and quickness for his size. He’s light on his feet, but also packs initial punch power and body quickness. He looked terrific in drills, won the vast majority of his 1-on-1’s, and took home OL MVP honors following the event. His reactive quickness stood out wqhen initially beaten in 1-on-1’s. The home game for Mauigoa this weekend cemented his status as an On3 Consensus 5-star prospect. He had the look of multi-year starter and future NFL draft pick Saturday.
