LSU fans were curious about the status of receiver Chris Hilton ahead of their matchup with the USC Trojans on Sunday night. A little over an hour before kickoff, LSU fans got their answer and unfortunately it wasn’t a good one.

Hilton was not dressed out in pregame warmups and he won’t be available. Expect receiver Kyle Parker to start for the Tigers in his place, according to Wilson Alexander of The Advocate.

Hilton has battled injuries for the past few seasons, but has flashed explosiveness when healthy. He came into the USC game questionable, so it’s not much of a surprise that he can’t suit up Sunday night. That being said, Tiger fans certainly hope he can manage to stay healthy and emerge as a productive weapon in 2024.

LSU listed Hilton as a starter for Sunday’s game on the depth chart they dropped a few hours before the matchup, so he must have been a late scratch. The past two years for the Tigers, he’s hauled in 22 catches for 415 yards and three touchdowns. His career high for receiving yards in a single game is 81, when he did that against Kansas State in the 2022 Texas Bowl.

When healthy, Hilton is one of the fastest players in college football and he’s expected to be a major weapon in the LSU passing attack. This is his fourth year in Baton Rouge.

A dynamic athlete coming out of high school, Hilton was a two-sport standout at Zachary High School (Zachary, Louisiana). As a junior in 2019, Hilton hauled in 43 catches for 846 yards and 11 touchdowns. As a sophomore, he caught a screen pass and took it 80-yards for a game-winning touchdown in Zachary’s 5A state title victory in 2018 over West Monroe. As a senior on the track, he claimed the 5A state title in both the 400-meters and the high jump. Hilton also won the state championship in indoor track as a sophomore and freshman.
