Vegas has released new odds on the Big Ten Football Championship. This comes ahead of what could be one of the most competitive years the conference has seen in recent history.

After four seasons of dominating the Big Ten, Ohio State was dethroned in 2021 by rival Michigan. The Wolverines followed that up by winning the conference again in 2022, a season that saw two Big Ten schools make the College Football Playoff and a third win the Rose Bowl.

That Rose Bowl-winning team was Penn State, which is seen as a potential team who can compete with Ohio State and Michigan for the Big Ten East in 2023. All of that makes this one of the most exciting divisional races in college football.

Big Ten Championship odds

Here are the Big Ten Football Championship odds, according to FanDuel:

  1. Ohio State +165
  2. Michigan +210
  3. Penn State +500
  4. Wisconsin +650
  5. Iowa +1400
  6. Minnesota +2900
  7. Maryland +4000
  8. Illinois +5000
  9. Nebraska +6000
  10. Michigan State +9500
  11. Purdue +10000
  12. Indiana +10000
  13. Northwestern +10000
  14. Rutgers, N/A

Across from the Big Ten East, which is stacked at the top, the West appears to be wide open. There, Wisconsin, Purdue, and Nebraska have new head coaches in place. Meanwhile, Illinois and Iowa are looking to build on excellent defensive seasons in 2022. Then, Minnesota is looking to take a step forward from its nine-win season last year.

Right now, the betting favorite from that group is Wisconsin. The Badgers are now going to be led by Luke Fickell in his first season as the head coach there. This coaching change could potentially lead to a transitional season for the program though. At the same time, he’s a proven winner who led a Group of Five team to the College Football Playoff.

For the team’s toward the bottom of the barrel in the East, things can be tough. That’s particularly true for Indiana and Rutgers. The Hoosiers are a massive longshot to win a championship, needing to have a miracle season to get through Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State. Then, FanDuel isn’t even giving odds on Rutgers at this point.

The Big Ten is almost assured to get at least one team into the College Football Playoff each season. With this much talent, at the top of the conference, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see multiple Big Ten teams involved again.
