Michigan is the favorite over TCU in the College Football Playoff semifinals and former Ohio State coach Urban Meyer agrees with that sentiment. On Urban’s Take with Tim May, Meyer outlined his prediction for the game between the No. 2 and 3 teams in the country.

“Well, we did the Wolverine four times, we had TCU two times,” Meyer said of his initial observations. “I stood next to both sidelines, there is a talent differential. The one thing TCU is it’s one of those teams that has a heart of a lion and the quarterback’s a lion. The guy is unbelievable. We were on the field against Texas Tech and Baylor and when they came in the last second and won the game … There’s just a lot of chemistry and they’re gonna pick each other up. That’s what they have.”

However, Meyer was honest about his assessment between the two squads and explained why Michigan was his pick.

“Talent wise, it’s the offensive and defensive line,” Meyer said. “That’s why I admire their team right now, they’re built along the line of scrimmage. Those teams win championships, so I think the Wolverines handle them. But I think you’re gonna see a street fight.”

Michigan has yet to lose a game and since the Wolverines are favored over TCU, perhaps Michigan will be 14-0 going into the national championship against Georgia or Ohio State.

That has the makings of an all-time special team.

“Probably going back to the offseason, but when we had our first fourth quarter finisher, and everybody was just eating it up,” quarterback J.J. McCarthy said of when he thought the Wolverines were special. “And this was a team that just wanted nothing more to get better and strive for greatness and we relished in the hard work. We love this … And I think that was something that separates us from a lot of other teams from the past and from the teams that we go up against.”

Michigan practically rolled through its schedule in a majority of the team’s games this season. The biggest statement wins came in the form of beating Ohio State for the second straight year and dominating Purdue in the Big Ten title game.

Now, the team is just two wins away from its first national title since 1997.

No. 2 Michigan (13-0) takes on No. 3 TCU (12-1) in the College Football Playoff semifinals at the Fiesta Bowl Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET.
