With Big Noon Kickoff in Ann Arbor, Urban Meyer was back in Ann Arbor. As you might figure, the former Ohio State head coach is not a popular person around Michigan’s campus. Winning all seven of your matchups against the Wolverines is not easy for opposing fans to forget.

Even so, Meyer decided to speak to a sports management class on Friday before Michigan faced Texas the following day. It all came together in Cabo when Meyer and Mark Ingram met a Michigan professor on vacation. The idea was pitched and Meyer was sold, even if students voiced their displeasure with him.

“I said, ‘This might make great TV.’ It’s a sports management class,” Meyer said. “We went. Mark Ingram gets cheered everywhere he goes except Auburn, Alabama. I get booed a lot of places and I got booed, my gosh.”

To make matters worse, Meyer wore a shirt saying Beat Michigan” and reminded everyone of his record in The Game. A Michigan student was seen wearing a shirt with his thoughts on the state of Ohio, playing into the fun of the rivalry.

Meyer was then on the Big Noon Kickoff set and was barely able to get a word in without the crowd reacting. Ingram — joined by Rob Stone, Brady Quinn, and Matt Leinart — was also there and had no issues. At one point, even Ingram felt bad for what Meyer was going through.

“I felt bad for my dog on the show,” Ingram said. “They wouldn’t let him work, they wouldn’t let him work. Anytime he call, it was just the boos… They wouldn’t let my man work. We were like ‘Let my man work. He has a j-o-b, a job to do. Let my man work.'”

There is a chance Meyer is back in Ann Arbor before too long. On Sept. 21, Michigan is set to face USC as a Big Ten opponent for the first time. The reception likely be the same, not too welcoming.
