USC had no shortage of drama surrounding its quarterback recruiting in the 2025 cycle, but the Trojans ultimately ended up with one of the best in the entire class.

Corona (Calif.) Centennial’s Husan Longstreet chose to stay close to home when he flipped from Texas A&M in November, and Lincoln Riley and Co. are glad he did. On Thursday, Longstreet was named a five-star recruit and the No. 12 prospect nationally in On3’s final rankings update for the senior class.

He also checks in as the No. 3 quarterback in the country coming off where he threw for 1,708 yards and 19 touchdowns in 10 games. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder also ran for 494 yards and six scores, leading the Huskies to a semifinal appearance in the CIF-Southern Section playoffs.

Longstreet originally committed to Texas A&M in April, and that pledge looked solid throughout much of the fall. The in-state gunslinger really emerged as an option in the fall, once it became more apparent that four-star QB Julian Lewis was not going to wind up in the fold in Los Angeles.

On the same day that Lewis decommitted, Longstreet flipped from the Aggies to the Trojans.

“What made USC right for me is what Coach Riley has done in the past,” Longstreet told On3. “He has five quarterbacks starting in the NFL right now and four that won the Heisman. It’s hard to turn down something special like that.”

Scout’s Take on Husan Longstreet

On3’s scouting and rankings team compares him to former All-Pro quarterback Russell Wilson and writes this of Longstreet as a prospect:

“Top arm talent with arguably the strongest arm in the 2025 cycle. Has an absolute flamethrower attached to his right arm. Owns a compact build at a shade under 6-foot-1, 195 pounds prior to his senior season. Muscled with little to no fat on his body. Has the largest hands among blue-chip quarterbacks in the cycle that measure at 11 inches. Capable of touching all areas of the field with his phenomenal arm strength. Passes have considerable velocity. Throws with a whippy ¾ to sidearm delivery. Plays in an uptempo offense at the offensive level that utilizes RPO’s. Makes eye-popping downfield throws, ripping passes down the seam from 40 yards out. Can stick the ball on covered receivers who are seemingly unguarded. Shows the ability to go through reads and attack the middle of the field. A twitchy mover who also presents a run threat on designed runs and on scrambles. Makes defenders miss in space.”
