2027 QB Thaddeus Thatcher commits to Utah

Las Vegas Arbor View quarterback Thaddeus Thatcher has committed to Utah, he told Rivals on Sunday afternoon.
He chose the Utes while also holding offers from the likes of UNLV, Colorado, Kansas and Washington State. Thatcher is the younger brother of linebacker Christian Thatcher, who signed with Utah in the 2025 cycle.
Thaddeus is currently unranked in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, though he does check in as a four-star recruit, per Rivals.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound signal-caller is the first member of Utah’s 2027 recruiting class. As a sophomore for Arbor View, he threw for 3,271 yards and 34 touchdowns, according to MaxPreps. He also rushed for six TDs.
Thatcher led Arbor View to a 10-2 record in 2024, with the Aggies only falling to Bishop Gorman, one of the nation’s top programs, twice. Arbor View ranked as the No. 2 team in Nevada and No. 294 team overall, per the On3 Composite Rankings.

Early last season, Thatcher caught the eye of On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons:
“In the first half against Lincoln, Thaddeus Thatcher looked like a picthing machine. He threw on time and with great accuracy,” Simmons wrote. “He had over 300 yards and four touchdowns in the first half. The 2027 quarterback out of Arbor View finished with 583 yards and a total of six touchdowns, including the game winner on a quarterback sneak with 26 seconds remaining. Arbor View won a thriller 45-44.”
More on Utah Recruiting
The Utes now have a 2027 recruit in the mix but are still without a pledge in the 2026 cycle. Back in December, they inked the nation’s No. 38 class in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.
That group of incoming freshmen is headlined by the elder Thatcher and Saint George (Utah) Desert Hills three-star LB Cyrus Polu. Other top signees in the class include: Aledo (Texas) three-star running back Raycine Guillory, Pflugerville (Texas) three-star cornerback Jason Stokes, Henderson (Nev.) Coronado three-star athlete JJ Buchanan, Salt Lake City Skyline three-star defensive lineman Karson Kaufusi and Honolulu St. Louis three-star DL Pupualii Sepulona.
The class also ranked No. 4 in the Big 12, finishing ahead of the likes of Baylor, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Texas Tech and Arizona State.
