Utah RB transfer Jaylon Glover commits to UNLV
Former Utah running back Jaylon Glover has committed to UNLV out of the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.
Glover announced his plan to enter the portal in November while the regular season was still ongoing. He saw a reduced role in 2024 after being a steady presence in the Utes backfield. Before portaling, he appearing in three games this past season and had 12 carries to show for it.
He is the first transfer portal commit for new head coach Dan Mullen. Glover revealed to On3’s Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons that Mullen contacted Glover “as soon as he got the job.”
Mullen made sure that Glover was one of, if not the first recruit to come see everything that UNLV has to offer in Vegas. Glover believes the program is a “perfect fit for me to go dominate that league.” He told Simmons, ‘who doesn’t want to play every home game in Allegiant Stadium?’
Moreover, the UNLV coach also told Glover that “he wouldn’t lose me again,” after the running back committed to Utah over Florida in high school. Mullen made good on that promise.
As a freshman, he took 78 touches 360 yards and added to that total as a sophomore with 562 yards and two touchdowns while playing in all 13 games for Utah.
In his social media announcement last month, Glover revealed he decided to use his redshirt for the rest of this season to retain his eligibility. He’ll be a redshirt sophomore for UNLV next season and has two seasons of eligibility remaiining.

UNLV finished the regular season 10-2 overall but fell short against Boise State 21-7 in the Mountain West Championship game. They’re set to take on Cal in the Art of Sport LA Bowl on Dec. 18.
Before college, Glover was a three-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He ranked as the nation’s No. 476 overall prospect and No. 35 running back during that cycle.
The portal officially opens on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. More than 2,800 FBS scholarship players entered their names into the NCAA’s transfer database during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 2,707 transfers.
That means roughly 25 percent of all FBS scholarship players hit free agency in one year, per On3’s Pete Nakos.
