Vince Marrow’s resignation from the University of Kentucky has been revealed through a FOIA request by WKYT’s Lyndsey Gough. The request revealed that Marrow resigned through text message from UK Deputy Athletics Director, Mark Hill.

“Hey Mark today is my last day at UK,” Marrow’s text reads. “Thanks for everything.”

Gough revealed that this text, which reads as sent on a Thursday, came on the same day the Louisville announced Marrow’s hire. This was after he spent 12 seasons on Mark Stoops’ staff at Kentucky.

Marrow is now getting settled into his new position with the Louisville Cardinals as the program’s Executive Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting. He was introduced on June 12 by the university.

The longtime Kentucky associate head coach has been the primary recruiter for some of the Wildcats’ top recruits over the past decade. He held the titles of associate head coach, tight ends coach, recruiting coordinator and NFL Liaison.

There have been many reports over the years noting other programs interest in adding Marrow to their coaching staff, whether that be as an assistant or in a front office. After many have tried, Louisville football are the ones to obtain his services.

“I’m incredibly excited to work with Jeff Brohm and the University of Louisville football program,” Marrow said at the time he was hired. “Jeff and I have known each other for over 25 years, I have always admired and respected him and the Brohm family. I love the state of Kentucky — this has become my home.  The opportunity to take on this exciting role, in the state where I have so many incredible relationships, was something that I couldn’t pass up.”

However, Marrow thanked Kentucky and those he met along the way, specifically Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops, the administration, as well as the fans. “My hope is that I left the Kentucky football program in a better position than when we started, I will always be grateful for my time there,” he continued.

Marrow joins a Louisville football program that appears poised to contend in the ACC this season. Heading into year three of Jeff Brohm’s tenure, Louisville has won at least nine games in both of his first two seasons coaching the program.

Louisville’s 2025 season will begin against Eastern Kentucky on Aug. 30 before beginning ACC play during Week 4. The Cardinals will host Kentucky during the regular season finale on Nov. 29.
