Phillips – whose father, Mose Phillips Jr., played at Tennessee from 1991-94 – played high school football at Nashville (Tenn.) Cane Ridge, where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 1,295 overall player from the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Phillips marks the sixth commitment for Missouri out of the portal through the early part of the transfer window. The Tigers notably landed former Louisiana-Monroe running back Ahmad Hardy, who came in as the No. 29 overall player and No. 2-ranked running back to hit the transfer portal so far this cycle, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.
Mizzou went 9-3 this past season, one year after finishing 11-2. The Tigers are currently getting ready to play in the Music City Bowl against Iowa on Dec. 30, hoping to clinch another 10-win season under Eli Drinkwitz.
