Clemson lineman on offense's play vs. App State: 'We could've done that to Georgia'
The Clemson offense exploded this past Saturday against Appalachian State as the Tigers put up 66 points and more than 700 yards of offense in the dominant victory.
Clemson senior offensive lineman Walker Parks was proud of the way the Tigers played and believes they should have had a similar performance the previous week against No. 1 Georgia.
“The thing is, like, I’ve never had a doubt in this team,” Walker Parks said Tuesday. “It’s going to sound insane, and I don’t mean this in any disrespectful way at all – because I have a lot of respect for them. They whooped us.
“But I feel like we could’ve done that to Georgia, as well. And I’m not saying hang 66-20 and do all that. But like, the plays that we made, the plays were there, the opportunities were there.”

As Parks said, he doesn’t necessarily believe Clemson should have beaten Georgia by 46 points, but he does believe the Tigers should have put up a lot more points and yards than they did.

The Tigers suffered a 34-3 loss to the Bulldogs, finishing with only 188 yards of offense.
Parks is hopeful that Clemson’s performance on Saturday will give the entire Tigers offense, particularly the young players, confidence for the rest of the season.
“I think it was really good for this team to see that we can do it. And now they have a vision for it. Because we have a lot of young guys like Bryant Wesco, TJ Moore. Like they’re freshmen that haven’t played and now they see that they can do it at this level. And they know that,” Parks said. “But you know, being 18 years old and going in your first college game, it’s difficult. It’s a challenge. So I think we’ve got a ton of talent.”
Despite the record-setting offensive day, Parks still sees plenty of room for improvement for Clemson. If the Tigers can correct some mistakes he feels like the sky is the limit.
“Watching on film, man, the big thing is like there’s still stuff to correct. Like we didn’t play good enough where if that was a playoff opportunity and it came down to a couple of plays, we would have lost that,” Parks said. “We had a turnover. We had some penalties. We had some mistakes that can’t happen. So really fun to watch on film but a lot of stuff to still work on. But it’s really promising for Week 2 of the season.”
