4-star IOL Waltclaire Flynn Jr. moves up commitment date
Loganville (Ga.) Grayson four-star interior offensive lineman Waltclaire Flynn Jr. originally planned to announce his commitment on Aug. 3, his birthday. That decision has been moved up by more than a month.
On Friday, Flynn Jr. shared that he will be committing on July 2. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, UCF has a close lead for his commitment at 38.2%.
Flynn Jr. is the No. 294 overall prospect and No. 23 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 37 player in Georgia.
UCF will host Flynn Jr. on June 2 for an official visit. The Knights are currently the only program scheduled to host the 6-foot-1, 305-pound recruit officially.
“I’ve been real tight with coach (Herb) Hand and coach Gus (Malzahn),” Flynn Jr. told On3’s Jeremy Johnson on April 3. “It’s like family down there. I can’t wait for the official visit.”
Flynn Jr. is looking at programs across the country
Flynn Jr. has already visited multiple programs this spring. They include Penn State (April 21), UCF (April 8), Georgia (March 28), USC (March 18), LSU (March 11) and Texas (March 4).
The in-state Bulldogs are another program that has his attention.
“Coach Kirby (Smart) and coach (Stacy) Searels have said some great things about me,” Flynn said. “I can’t wait to get back over there… They pulled me and Sedrick (Van Pran) aside and coach Kirby told me about how I reminded him of Sedrick. That was amazing. He’s played this game at a high level for a long time, so that meant a lot.”

Flynn Jr. also broke down three other programs of interest with Johnson on Feb. 26. They are Georgia Tech, LSU and Michigan. He visited the Yellow Jackets on Jan. 14 and the Wolverines on Jan. 22.
Georgia Tech: “The vibe there is different now. There’s going to be lots of changes and lots of winning this upcoming year… They’re one of my top schools.”
LSU: “What I look forward to with LSU is trying to figure out if I fit here. I want to know if I see myself playing here.”
Michigan: “I want to see what makes them so great. I want to know what they do differently because obviously, they’re doing something well over there because being a two-time Joe Moore Award-winning doesn’t just happen.”
