Walter Camp Award preseason watchlist released for 2024 season
On Monday, the Walter Camp Football Foundation revealed its preseason list of 50 “players to watch” for its 2024 Player of the Year award. The Walter Camp Player of the Year Award is the nation’s fourth-oldest individual college football accolade and is annually given to the best player in college football.
The Walter Camp Football Foundation left no stone unturned in its 2024 preseason list, including 41 offensive players and nine defensive standouts. Ohio State and Notre Dame each boast three players on the list, the most of any programs in the country.

LSU’s Jayden Daniels won the prestigious award in the 2023 campaign. With Daniels off to the NFL, the award will find a new home in the upcoming season. The 2024 Player of Year watch list will be narrowed to 10 semi-finalists in early November and three finalists will be announced on November 26.
The award is voted on by the 133 NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. The winner will be announced on ESPN’s College Football Awards Show on December 12.
