Walter Camp Foundation announces 15 semifinalists for Player of Year award
The Walter Camp Foundation announced the 15 semifinalists who are in the mix for the Player of the Year award after Week 10.
The 15-player watch list includes eight quarterbacks, four defensive players, two running backs, and one wide receiver. Thirteen schools from six conferences are on the list. Alabama and Ohio State have two semifinalists each.
The Crimson Tide claimed the 2020 Walter Camp Player of the Year award. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith claimed the prize after putting up just shy of 1,900 receiving yards with 24 total touchdowns. He went on to the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Bryce Young made the Walter Camp semifinalist list and is currently the leader in the 2021 Heisman Race. The Tide quarterback has thrown for 2,755 yards, 28 touchdowns and three interceptions in his first year as the starter for Nick Saban.

Oregon coach getting NFL buzz
Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker is trying to become the first running back to win the Walter Camp award since Derrick Henry in 2015. A defensive player hasn’t won the award since Manti Te’o out of Notre Dame in 2012.

The Walter Camp Player of the Year is voted on by the 130 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors. A list of five finalists will go out on Thursday, December 2, and the winner named on ESPN’s College Football Awards Show on Thursday, December 9.
