Georgia DL Warren Brinson leaves game vs. Clemson with apparent injury
Georgia defensive lineman Warren Brinson went down with an apparent injury in the first quarter of Saturday’s game against Clemson. He grabbed his left ankle on the ground, according to DawgsHQ, and headed to the medical tent.
Brinson is starting his fifth season of college football after announcing his return in January. He’s coming off the best year of his career in 2023, totaling 21 tackles – including three tackles for loss and two sacks – as a key piece of the Georgia defensive line.
Brinson left the tent with a wrap around his ankle, according to Dawgs Central’s Graham Coffey. He was also walking around, but his day was likely over.
Georgia and Clemson are helping kick off the 2024 campaign at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The Bulldogs enter the year with high expectations once again with Carson Beck notably back at quarterback and another strong defense coming back under Kirby Smart.

Clemson and Georgia last squared off in a season opener in 2021 as the Bulldogs started their run to their first of two straight national championships. Things are a bit different this time around, though. UGA has two national titles to its name while Clemson saw its 10-win season streak snap last season.
As for how things will look Saturday, DawgsHQ’s Jake Rowe said he thinks the Clemson defense could be a difference. That’s a change from the last time around.
“I think it’ll look more like normal football. I don’t think we’re going to set the game back a few years like we tried to last time there in Charlotte,” Rowe joked. “I think that one was Clemson being extremely overrated kind of going into that season, just in terms of how good we thought DJU [DJ Uiagalelei] was going to be, and Georgia being dinged up on the opposite side of all up against a big time defensive front.”
The 2021 matchup was a rock fight that Georgia was able to win narrowly in a 10-3 victory. It was a game where neither offense manages to reach the end zone while a 74-yard interception return from Christopher Smith wound up being the lone touchdown for the Bulldogs.
