Report: Terry McLaurin's contract asking price revealed
Terry McLaurin was one of the biggest steals of the 2019 NFL Draft and all indications are pointing to the Washington Commanders locking down the former Ohio State wide receiver to a long-term deal in the very near future.
The NFL Combine typically marks the time on the league calendar where offseason moves begin to take shape, trades take form and deals get done for top-tier players to stay with their teams.
On Friday ESPN’s Jordan Schultz reported the Washington Commanders are currently working on a deal to lock down their star wide receiver in DC for years to come.
The speedy wide receiver with a knack for hauling in contested 50/50 balls and almost always winning the battle is coming off a 2021 season in which he posted 77 receptions for 1,053 yards and five touchdowns, marking his second consecutive year with at least 1,000 receiving yards. He also averaged a respectable 13.7 yards per catch. It’s fair to note the former Ohio State pass-catcher has remained poised, humble and found success on a team that has played multiple quarterbacks since Terry McLaurin was drafted.
Washington Commanders all-in on franchise QB
In a stat that doesn’t feel real — but makes McLaurin’s early success even more impressive — is that in his short time in the NFL the former OSU star has played with 10 different quarterbacks.
McLaurin, who was named a captain by on Ron Rivera and is consistently praised for character and leadership while playing for a franchise riddled with distraction, casually brushed off the stunning fact back in September.
“I’ve been fortunate to play with multiple quarterbacks and I’ve learned something from all of them, so that’s unique. I’ve always believed my job is to make their job as easy as possible and trust that I’m going to do my job and make plays when they need it most,” McLaurin said, who was appointed as a team captain midseason last campaign and again this year as a result of his no-excuse leadership.

Temple to fire Stan Drayton
While the star wide receiver will never admit it, it’s a lot easier to reach peak potential in the NFL when receivers have chemistry with their signal-caller over time.
The Washington Commanders are on a serious hunt for their next starting quarterback. But how serious are they? Well, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, serious enough to offer what sources are saying was a strong offer to the Seattle Seahawks for their starting quarterback Russell Wilson.
The talks didn’t go very far, as the Seahawks don’t have any interest in moving off of Wilson at this time. But given the nature of Washington’s aggressiveness and pursuing the Seattle star quarterback, the Commanders are ready to go all in to acquire a proven elite quarterback. And they did not stop at Seattle.
“ Washington has called essentially everywhere about finding a QB. Their call to the #Seahawks shows a commitment to swinging big. They went 7-10 last year with a solid backup. A sure-fire starter changes everything for a team ready to compete,” said Rapoport.
The Washington Commanders are clearly making moves in an attempt to win now.
