Washington EDGE Lance Holtzclaw announces plans to enter NCAA Transfer Portal
Washington sophomore edge rusher Lance Holtzclaw will be entering the NCAA Transfer Portal, he announced on Thursday. He’ll have multiple years of eligibility remaining.
Holtzclaw has featured in 26 career games and has two sacks. He redshirted as a true freshman in 2022.
He played in 11 games in 2023 as the Huskies went to the national championship under then head coach Kalen DeBoer.
“I want to express my gratitude to the University of Washington and Husky Nation for the past three seasons,” Holtzclaw said in his announcement. “I’m grateful for the support of the fans, the special relationships I’ve built here and the memories we’ve created that will be remembered forever. Thank you to my family, friends and mentors for their constant love and support. Thank you to the coaches for challenging me to become the best version of myself everyday. Thanks to the trainers and academic staff for caring so much about the people you work with. You do more than you need to and I appreciate you all.
“To my teammates, I am grateful to have met and have compete alongside y’all. From knowing nobody out here, to having Seattle feel like my home. Y’all are my brothers for life. With all that being said, I will be entering the NCAA Transfer Portal with two years of eligibility remaining.”

He continued, expressing how difficult the decision was.
“This was not an easy decision, but I believe it is the right one for my future. I’m forever grateful to have been part of this incredible program. Go Dawgs!” Holtzclaw said.
Holtzclaw was a three-star product in the 2022 signing class for Washington, ranked No. 627 in the On3 Industry Ranking. He originally committed to Washington over the likes of Michigan, Vanderbilt and Arizona. Holtzclaw played high school football at Desert Ridge (Az.) High School.
A return closer to home could be in the cards for Holtzclaw, but it remains to be seen where the edge rusher wants to head next for his career.
