Washington's Tyler Harris commits to transfer to Vanderbilt

Tyler Harris has played a pair of seasons at two programs out on the west coast. He’ll now, by way of the transfer portal, come down to the southeast with his commitment.
Harris has committed to the Vanderbilt Commodores in the NCAA Transfer Portal. That news comes per On3’s Joe Tipton on Friday.
Harris has appeared the past two years at Washington and Portland. He has played in 52 games, 48 being starts, with those two teams as an underclassman while averaging 11.9 points (47.8% FG, 44.4% 3PT), 6.0 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, and 0.9 steals per game. That includes 11.8 points (49.2% FG, 49.5% 3PT), 5.0 rebounds, 1.1 blocks, 0.9 steals a game for the Huskies as their leader in three-point percentage and blocks while being top-three in scoring, rebounding, and steals.
Harris, a native of Hayward, California, played high school basketball at Newark Memorial. He was the No. 258 overall recruit there as a three-star in the 2023 cycle. He also rated as a Top-60 SF and a Top-40 player out of the state. That’s according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Now, in the portal, Harris was one of the highest-rated transfers still available per the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players. He ranks at No. 118 overall and as the No. 23 SF, which had him in the Top-40 overall and as the No. 10 SF on the board still.

With that, Harris is the sixth addition in the portal so far this offseason for Vandy. They’ve also picked up commitments from Jalen Washington (North Carolina), Frankie Collins (TCU), Mike James (NC State), Mason Nicholson (Jacksonville State), and AK Okereke (Cornell).
That’s after the Commodores have lost eight transfers to the portal in turn. Five of those have already committed elsewhere in Jason Edwards (Providence), Jaylen Carrey (Tennessee), JaQualon Roberts (Davidson), MJ Collins (Utah State), and Karris Bilal (Louisiana) with a trio remaining available with Kijani Wright, Alex Hemenway, and Jordan Williams.
