Washington middle infield duo of Aiva Arquette, Cam Clayton enter NCAA transfer portal
The Washington middle infield duo of Aiva Arquette and Cam Clayton have entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3’s Pete Nakos has learned. A two-for-one special to go against the Huskies just days after losing head coach Jason Kelly to Texas A&M.
Beginning with Arquette, he was the second baseman for Washington this past season. He was considered one of the best infielders in the Pac-12 and his bat was quite good as well. Twelve home runs, 36 RBIs, and an average of .322 would be welcomed by any ball club. Arquette was rewarded for his performances by being named to the All-Conference team.

Just wrapping up his second season in college baseball, there is a chance for the numbers to be even better in 2025, wherever Arquette winds up.
As for Clayton, shortstop was where he lined up on a nightly basis. His offensive numbers were not as good, though. Clayton hit .270 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs while striking out 43 times and walking on 30 occasions.
There is a little bit more experience with Clayton compared to his infielder partner. Three seasons are now under his belt, all of them spent in Seattle with Washington. In what would be his final year of eligibility in college baseball, he will spend it elsewhere.

Texas A&M one to “keep an eye on” for Washington duo
Kendall Rogers of D1 Baseball added some more information on Arquette and Clayton entering the portal. He believes Texas A&M may be the favorite to land the duo, reuniting them with Kelly. While pitching coach might be Kelly’s title in College Station, there is still a relationship with his former players in Seattle.
Texas A&M is expected to be one of the best teams heading into the 2025 season, even with all of the turnaround inside the program. Jim Schlossnagle is gone but Michael Earley decided to stick with it and coach the Aggies moving forward.
Hiring Kelly to an assistant role was an impressive move, especially as Washington moves from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten. Texas A&M knew hiring Kelly would benefit them on the recruiting trail and dividends would pay off right away if Arquette and Clayton wind up on the ’25 roster.
