Washington State’s Cedric Coward, despite only appearing in six games this past season, is regarded as one of the top players in the NCAA Transfer Portal. His final list reflects that considering who is among his top-five.

Coward has cut his options in the transfer portal to five programs. On that list for him are blue-blood and new-blood teams with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Duke Blue Devils, Florida Gators, Kansas Jayhawks, and Washington Huskies. That’s with him also still having the other option of the pros as he’s testing for the 2025 NBA Draft as well.

Coward played well in what appearances he did make with the Cougars before a shoulder injury ended his season before December. He averaged 17.7 points (55.7% FG, 40% FG), 7.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game in those six outings with Wazzu.

Prior to being in Pullman, Coward spent two seasons at Eastern Washington and one season at Willamette University (DIII). He posted 19.4 points and 12 rebounds per game in his 26 games in Division III. He then put up 11.3 points (60% FG, 38.6% 3PT), 6.1 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in his pair of years with the Eagles, including one earned selection as First Team All-Big Sky.

Now, per the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players, Coward is No. 17 overall as the No. 7 SG. That comes one offseason since he was at No. 38 overall as the No. 9 SF in 2024. That makes him the highest-rated departure from Wazzu during this cycle as the Cougars have also lost LeJuan Watts (Texas Tech – No. 26), Isaiah Watts (Maryland – No. 168), and Nate Calmese (No. 296), who also cut his list of transfer options to five schools on Tuesday.

Coward is one of the best-available transfers in the portal to this point of the cycle. That’s obvious based on this list of teams still pursuing his commitment.
