Report: Washington State expected to finalize deal with South Dakota State coach Jimmy Rogers
Washington State is reportedly targeting South Dakota State coach Jimmy Rogers for its head coaching gig, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports’ Ross Dellenger.
Dellenger reports that the deal is “not done but is expected to get there soon.”
ESPN reports, via Pete Thamel, that the deal has been finalized and Rogers is set to make an average of $1.57 million per year over the length of a five-year deal.
Rogers captured the NCAA Division I Championship while with South Dakota State in 2023, producing a perfect 15-0 season. He is 27-3 overall in his two years with the program, while boasting a 15-1 conference mark.
Jimmy Rogers has spent much of his playing and coaching career with South Dakota State. He played linebacker for the program from 2005-09, becoming an all-conference player and a team captain.
He then began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at South Dakota State from 2010-11.
From there, he branched out to Florida Atlantic, where he was a graduate assistant from 2012-13. But the ties to South Dakota were real, and he would shortly return as a linebackers coach.
