Washington transfer edge rusher Jayden Wayne commits to California

Former Washington edge rusher Jayden Wayne will transfer to play for California in 2025, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported. It will mark his second transfer in as many years after he began his college career at Miami in 2023.

Wayne appeared in 11 games for the Huskies this past season to finish with six total tackles and one pass defended. Prior to that he played in eight contests as a true freshman with the Hurricanes to finish with 13 tackles and 0.5 sacks.

As a recruit, Wayne was a four-star prospect out of IMG Academy in 2023. He ranked as the No. 85 overall player and No. 11 edge rusher in the cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Jayden Wayne is the 11th player that California has added through the transfer portal and the first edge rusher, though the Golden Bears also added linebacker Buom Jock. He ranks as the No. 524 overall player and No. 52 edge rusher according to On3’s Transfer Portal Player Rankings.

California is coming off of a 6-7 finish in its first season as a member of the ACC and will look to continue stacking up its roster for next year.

Notre Dame transfer DB Jaden Mickey commits to California

Notre Dame transfer cornerback Jaden Mickey is taking his talents out West, committing to join the California Golden Bears via the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned.

Mickey redshirts in the midst of his junior year for the Fighting Irish, appearing in 28 games in his career with Notre Dame, including the first four games of the 2024 season. He made three starts between his freshman and sophomore seasons in South Bend, and ended his time with Notre Dame having accumulated 23 tackles, four defended passes, and an interception he returned for a 43-yard touchdown.

As a member of the Class of 2022, Mickey was a four-star recruit out of Corona (Calif.) Centennialaccording to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 11 overall prospect in the state, the No. 22 cornerback in the class and the No. 185 overall prospect in the class.

Moving forward, Mickey hopes to become a nice piece of the puzzle for the Golden Bears. California fared relatively well during their first season in the ACC, and the addition of Mickey will only help their cause in 2025.
