After picking up its second win of the season over Oregon, Washington solidified its spot in the CFP. The Huskies are a locomotive on offense, averaging 469.1 yards per game, which is the 12th-most in the nation. Of course, it never hurts to have a Heisman Trophy candidate on your team.
In 13 games, Michael Penix Jr. boasts 3,899 passing yards and 32 touchdowns while only throwing eight interceptions. Additionally, Penix has connected on 65.6% of his pass attempts this season. Penix has proven he can perform under the bright lights. In the Pac-12 Championship, Penix completed 27-of-his-39 pass attempts for 319 yards and a touchdown.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer had nothing but good things to say about his team following the win.
“Just proud of our guys and the way they continue to just be resilient and find a way,” DeBoer said. “Just always playing in the present, in the moment. Never having regrets. Finding different ways to do it.”

The Longhorns storm into the CFP
Texas wasn’t always guaranteed a spot in the CFP. Yet, in the end, the Longhorns stampeded their way into the final four. The program certainly earned it. In Week 2, Texas defeated Alabama 34-24. However, after falling to Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown, Texas’ future was unclear.
The Longhorns bounced back, winning the rest of their games in grueling fashion. When Oklahoma failed to make the Big 12 Championship Game, Texas took advantage. The Longhorns won the Big 12 Championship by blowing out Oklahoma State. Now, Texas will look to keep its momentum moving forward in its first appearance in the CFP.
