2024 Duncanville (Texas) four-star EDGE Colin Simmons made his presence felt in Saturday’s matchup against Orlando (Fla.) Jones. The 6-foot-2.5, 225 pound pass rusher did this by shedding his blocker and wrapping up Jones’ quarterback for a sack.

Simmons is the No. 10 overall prospect and No. 1 EDGE in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in Texas.

The four-star prospect has received 34 offers so far in his recruiting process. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, LSU has a commanding lead for his commitment at 91.2%.

“I know LSU is gonna be first, I’ll tell you that,” Simmons told On3’s Sam Spiegelman. “They told me already and they’ve been hitting me up and letting me know they want me. They’re coming for me hard and telling me everything honestly.”

“I like the players there honestly,” Simmons added. “They’re like family. They bring you in like family, like you’re one another, and it’s family there.”

Simmons also told Spiegelman that other contenders for his commitment include Georgia, Oklahoma and Texas. He plans to take visits to multiple schools this fall, including Alabama, Georgia and LSU.

Simmons has an On3 NIL Valuation of $148K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Colin Simmons On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Colin Simmons:

“Colin Simmons was brilliant in his junior season debut. One of the more athletic defenders in the nation in next year’s cycle, the On3 Consensus’ No. 1 EDGE flew off the ball and came away with a handful of key plays behind the line of scrimmage, including multiple sacks, quarterbacks hits and even a safety in this rivalry game.

“Simmons is explosive and hasn’t lost a second on his fastball after adding some weight to his frame in the offseason. He is quick and also able to win with power and finesse. His length is pesky and athleticism is in a different category. Simmons flashed in his final game last December and looks primed to make another leap this fall, and so far the production against top competition proves it.”
