WATCH: Cade Klubnik places ball perfectly to C.J. Williams for great TD
Austin (Texas) Westlake five-star quarterback Cade Klubnik and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star wide receiver C.J. Williams developed a great chemistry during the All-American Bowl practices.
They showed that chemistry off during the first quarter of the All-American Bowl.
Facing a 3rd-and-2 from just inside the 25, Klubnik received the snap, rolled out to his right and threw the ball towards Williams and the back right corner of the end zone.
Williams beat Julian Humphrey by a quarter-step, snagged the ball with a beautiful over-the-shoulder catch and kept a foot in bounds for the touchdown to put Team West up 7-0.
The On3 Consensus – a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies – has Klubnik as the No. 20 and Williams as the No. 117 overall player in the country.
Minutes after catching the touchdown catch, Williams committed to USC.
“I truly believe that whoever brings USC back to that championship —Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart — level is going to be put on this pedestal for the rest of their lives,” Williams told On3. “They’re going to be looked at as a legend in the state of California.”

Cade Klubnik is ranked as the No. 1 quarterback in the On3 Consensus and had a good week of practices.
He got better as the week progressed and On3 National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton thought he did his best at the last full practice two days ago.
“We thought Klubnik may have had his best day of the week on Thursday,” Hamilton said. “The Clemson signee was decisive and made quick decisions. He had one of the best throws in the 7-on-7 session, hitting Williams on a deep out route, fitting the ball over zone coverage. Klubnik’s delivery and intermediate passes have been consistent throughout the week.”
