The trickle-down effect of conference realignments and super conferences will be immense. It will financially benefit the top-tier programs while leaving others to either fend for themselves or get in the fast lane too. Notre Dame is an example of a school that’s having to weigh its options compared to its values. In the same light, HBCUs are in a similar position. They are deciding between staying true to who they are versus not getting left behind. For Jackson State’s Deion Sanders, he doesn’t know where the future of the conference goes from here.

Sanders discussed the issue with Jay Harris on SportsCenter. He says Jackson State and other HBCUs are already talking about it and considering the financial significance.

Sanders’ point is rooted in how a lot of people feel about where college sports is headed with these moves. Certain programs want to remain in tact with their core values and traditions. The financial side of the sport, though, is starting to price those teams out of contention altogether.

Conference realignments are tying the hands of other conferences and schools across the country. Sanders’ Tigers along with other HBCUs will be amongst those having to make a call on where they stand. They have an opportunity to stand firm to who they are as a school. They also have a chance to ensure their programs and conference remain relevant on the national scene moving forward.

It looks like the war of words between Nick Saban and Deion Sanders is over-with, and the Aflac duck was the mediator.

On set to shoot another commercial for the insurance brand, Saban and Sanders put an end to their dispute that started when the Alabama coach uncharacteristically name-dropped the Jackson State coach while speaking about his qualms with NIL.

Check out the video shared by Sanders of the two coaches rekindling their friendship, to which he wrote, “Two goats, one duck, no beef.”

“We’re in Los Angeles, California, back on the Aflac set with the G.O.A.T.,” stated Sanders.

Of course, Saban kept the duo on brand, responding, “And the duck.”

“I was talking about you, so you calling me a duck?” laughed Sanders, complimenting the Alabama football coach.

As you can see, that doesn’t look like two coaches who have a rivalry at the moment. Things may be all good with Deion Sanders, but maybe Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher need to start an Aflac spinoff commercial series to save their relationship.
