WATCH: Deion Sanders, Jackson State share emotional moment prior to Celebration Bowl
Deion Sanders has breathed new life into the Jackson State Tigers. As Sanders continues to break the mold of coaches in his position, he shared an emotional moment with his team prior to the Celebration Bowl.
Earlier this season, Sanders was hospitalized due to complications following foot surgery. Since returning to the sidelines, the leader of Jackson State used a wheelchair to get around, later adjusting to the scooter he uses in the aforementioned video. Still, Sanders has made it look cooler than anyone else can.
As Sanders continues to heal, his team’s play is continually putting a smile on his face. Through all the adversity he’s gone through, Sanders has still led the Tigers to an 11-1 record and an appearance in the famous Celebration Bowl.
It’s great to see Deion Sanders taking steps, even if they’re baby steps. Still, the charismatic coach is moving forward — and continuing to be a beacon of light and inspiration for his team.
Sanders on flipping Travis Hunter: ‘Why not now?’
As Deion Sanders gets off his scooter, he’s also making waves on the recruiting trail. In one of the biggest shockers of all time, Sanders was able to convince the No. 1 recruit in the country to join him at Jackson State — flipping Travis Hunter from Florida State.

Following landing the nation’s top overall prospect at an HBCU, Sanders told Jarrett Bell of USA Today his three word response
“Everything I’ve done in my life, I’ve provoked change,” stated Sanders. “Why not now?”
The flip of the commitment is one of the most historic moments in college football history. It’s a major boost for HBCU football programs, and many believe Hunter’s commitment could pave the way for more talent to spurn the Power Five schools for HBCU programs in the future.
Deion Sanders continues to change the game wherever he goes. Don’t bet against ‘Coach Prime’ in the future — in whatever he does.
