Arizona State and USC had to take a brief intermission from their game tonight due to Mother Nature. But this time it was not incremental weather that caused the break, but a couple of surprise visits by a four-legged friend.

Early in the first quarter, on the Trojans opening possession, a fox darted onto the field of play. The first time was before a fourth and three from the Arizona State 43 yard line. The fox’s presence must have been bad luck because that play resulted in an interception thrown by quarterback Kedon Slovis. Shortly after that play was over, the furry four-footed friend got caught sneaking back on the field back by the end zone. Fortunately, security was able to shoo the fox away without any issues or incidents.

Since then Arizona State has jumped on the board with a 94-yard drive on their second possession of the game. The drive was capped off by a 14 yard run by running back DeaMonte Trayanum. The Sun Devils have had a balanced attack on offense so far in the game. They have tallied 100 yards of total offense split down the middle 50/50 in pass yards in rush yards. And quarterback Jayden Daniels has been efficient passing the ball in the first half. He is 5 or 6 for an 83.3 completion percentage through the first two quarters.

For the Trojans, they have had success moving the football against the Arizona State defense. Unfortunately for them, the first drive ended in an interception. And after seven plays and 41 yards, their second drive was halted and they were forced to punt. Currently, USC has the ball now on the Arizona State side of the field and is threatening inside the 30. The Trojans are trying to bounce back from that little distraction on their opening driver the game and come away with some points.
