WATCH: Multiple players ejected after scuffle in Florida-Kentucky game in women's SEC Tournament

A wild scene broke out at the SEC women’s basketball tournament on Wednesday as the Kentucky and Florida teams got into a scuffle in the second quarter. It was all kicked off when Florida forward Tatyana Wyche took umbrage with Kentucky forward Ajae Petty sticking the ball in her face after a made Wildcats layup.
Wyche, with the ball in her hands, turned and eventually flung the ball overhand, presumably toward Petty, who was headed toward the bench. The refs immediately blew the whistle and were seemingly prepare to assess a foul on Wyche when it all unraveled.
Wyche started to charge toward Petty and the Kentucky bench, with a melee ensuing.
The game was suspended for 20 minutes and a total of eight players were ejected, three for Florida and five for Kentucky. The bulk of the ejections were for players leaving the bench area during the fracas.
The ejected players for Florida were Wyche, Faith Dut and Ra Shaya Kyle were ejected, along with Petty, Cassidy Rowe, Saniah Tyler, Eniya Russell and Zennia Thomas for Kentucky.
The two teams continued to the half, with Kentucky holding a one-point lead.

Kentucky will be without senior guard Sahvir Wheeler “for a bit” as he recovers from what head coach John Calipari called a “minor procedure” on Twitter. As such, Wheeler will also miss the Kentucky senior night ceremony on Wednesday, as he is recovering.

Calipari added that the procedure Wheeler underwent was not to do with his ankle injury, an ailment that has nagged at him down the back stretch of the season. The procedure took place on Wednesday morning, according to Calipari.
“I hate that Sahvir won’t be able to hear #BBN show him how much we all love him on Senior Day tonight,” Calipari said. “Looking forward to getting him back on the court with us soon!!”
Wheeler played two seasons for Georgia before transferring to Kentucky prior to the 2021-22 season. This year, he’s averaging 7.7 points, 5.6 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game.
Kentucky hosts Vanderbilt at 7 p.m. on Wednesday night at Rupp Arena for senior night.
