Four-star receiver Luther Burden has some of the most impressive grabs so far this high school season. However, his touchdown reception Saturday afternoon against Belleville West might be his best yet.

In a 68-0 victory over West, Burden catches a ball at midfield, sprints to the left, leaps over a would-be tackler at the 40, makes two more defenders miss, cuts the ball back to the middle and races into the end zone for a 52-yard touchdown grab.

Luther Burden shared video of the grab on social media Saturday afternoon. It has since gone viral with nearly 18,000 views and more than 475 likes (and climbing). Burden captioned the video “top floor” and then used a ninja emjoi.

It was just one big play in a game full of big plays for the nation’s No. 90 overall prospect. According to the box score, Burden also had a 60-yard punt return for a score, a 14-yard touchdown reception, and a 53-yard touchdown grab.

Decision coming soon for Luther Burden

Luther Burden tweeted nine days ago that he’ll be announcing his commitment on Tuesday, Oct. 19. Burden was committed to Oklahoma for more than 10 months. But in August, he re-opened his recruitment, and he recently listed Alabama, Georgia and Missouri as his top three schools.

He told On3’s Hayes Fawcett that playing in the SEC was a major priority.

“I know I’ll be playing against the best of the best every week,” Burden said. “That is huge for me.”

He visited all three schools this summer, but he made multiple trips to Missouri, including an unofficial visit during a 7-on-7 camp that East St. Louis was participating in. He’s scheduled an official visit to Georgia for Oct. 16, just three days before his commitment. No other official visits have been set.

Burden had this to say about each of his finalists in the recent interview with Fawcett:

Luther Burden on Alabama

“They compete for a national championship every year,” Burden said. “So, they’re always on the big stage. The environment in Tuscaloosa is crazy, too. …The relationship that I have with my former high school teammate, (Alabama receiver) Jameson Williams, is strong. Me and him talk a lot, and he’s obviously doing good up there. He wants me to follow in his footsteps.”

Burden on Missouri

“Mizzou is close to home, so that’s always a plus. Coach (Eliah) Drinkwitz is really rebuilding the program, and I can see that they are getting better with recruiting. I really like coach Drinkwitz’s offense. Last game they threw the ball 50 times.”

Burden on Georgia

“The environment in Georgia is crazy. When I went up there for my unofficial, I probably had the best time there out of all of the visits I’ve taken. … Georgia is low on receivers right now. Me coming in right now would be a good time to come play right away. They play true freshmen a lot, and that’s big for me.”
