WATCH: On300 WR Matthew Golden makes impressive TD catch
Four-star wideout Matthew Golden had a highlight-reel touchdown catch in Houston Klein Cain’s 52-20 playoff victory Friday over Cypress (Texas) Cy Woods.
With less than 20 seconds left in the half and Houston Klein Cain a few yards away from the end zone, Golden lined up on the right side of the formation. He ran a simple fade route to the back of the end zone but his reception was anything but simple.
Golden leaped and had to turn back towards his left shoulder. He made the grab and then displayed excellent footwork to earn the touchdown.
Golden is the No. 231 overall recruit in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Matthew Golden is one of the best uncommitted wide receivers
Matthew Golden decommitted from TCU in the wake of Gary Patterson leaving his role as head coach.
Saraland (Ala.) three-star defensive lineman Trevon McAlpine, West Monroe (La.) three-star safety Ja’dais Richard and Gladewater (Tex.) four-star wide receiver DJ Allen have all also decommitted from the school.
The decommitments have seen the Horned Frogs drop to No. 44 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. TCU at one point ranked at No. 25.

Michigan prepared to offer No. 1 recruit $10.5M over 4 years
On the same day he decommitted from the Horned Frogs, Golden received a call from Texas coach Steve Sarkisian. The first-year head coach then offered him a scholarship.
“The offer was surprising,” Matthew Golden told On3’s Gerry Hamiltom. “Coming from Texas, that was unexpected. I was actually in class. Coach Sark facetimed me and told me how good of a player he thought I was. Then he offered me a scholarship.”
Golden might be in Austin, Texas, today for the Longhorns game against Kansas. He could be one of many top recruits to be at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.
