WATCH: Recruit fakes out Oregon before picking LSU
LSU and Oregon emerged over the last few weeks as the leaders for DeSoto (Texas) Waxahachie three-star cornerback and late riser Jaelyn Davis-Robinson.
But heading into National Signing Day, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine had given the edge to the Tigers and it appeared LSU was going to land the DFW-area standout.
At a ceremony at his high school Wednesday, Davis-Robinson wore a black hoodie jacket zipped all the way up to his neck. When the time came, he unzipped the Nike jacket to reveal a green Oregon t-shirt.
The crowd gasped and cheered in excitement. But Davis Robinson didn’t stop and smile. He wasn’t done.
He took off that Oregon shirt to reveal a purple LSU shirt, grabbed the Tigers hat on the table and announced he would be heading to Baton Rouge, La.

Suffice to say, it was a well-executed swerve from Davis-Robinson.
Jaelyn Davis-Robinson joins an LSU class with room to grow
He joins an LSU recruiting class ranked 15th in the country, according to the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking, with the potential to continue climbing as the day continues.
Jaelyn Davis-Robinson is the No. 483 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
“The first thing that immediately jumps out with Jaelyn Davis-Robinson is the speed,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power said. “He consistently ran in the 10.8 range or lower in the 100 meters as a junior. You see that speed show up on the field with his ability to stay in phase on downfield routes. Davis-Robinson has the versatility to line up at multiple spots in the secondary, whether it’s at nickel, outside corner or safety.”
