Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett delivered a huge 60-yard touchdown pass to Ladd McConkey in the third quarter to give the Bulldogs a 24-3 lead. The big play came on the first play of their drive after forcing a second turnover-on-downs against the Auburn Tigers.

Stetson Bennett’s 60-yard touchdown

With the Bulldogs already putting on another dominant defensive performance against a top-25 ranked opponent, Bennett was given a chance to show his arm strength. With McConkey guarded by a single defender, he was allowed to run a clean route straight down the field.

Whether the Auburn defense was cheating inside or simply wasn’t ready for McConkey’s speed, Bennett was able to deliver a pass right into his receiver’s hands with the defender trailing the play.

While JT Daniels continues to recover from injury, Bennett started his third consecutive game for the Bulldogs this season. Georgia entered their game with Auburn at 5-0 and ranked No. 2 in the nation against another strong SEC opponent.

On the season after stepping up for Daniels, Bennett has completed 70.7 percent of his passes for 515 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions. On ten rush attempts, Bennett has added in another 85 yards on the ground.

His stats mirror Daniels’ on the season, who has 567 yards, five touchdowns and two interceptions of his own.

Auburn prepared for either quarterback

Coming into the game, Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin treated the Georgia quarterback situation just like any other positon. Harsin said that Auburn has an overall game plan on defense, and that quarterback is no different than preparing for any other position.

“When you have a gameplan, you understand there’s different players and it’s not just the quarterback,” stated Harsin. “Look at when they put different tight ends in the game. When they put different tailbacks in the game. There’s things from a defensive standpoint you need to be ready for, when they’re utilizing different personnel. Quarterback is one of them as well.”
