WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take a look at Grant Buckey committing to USC, the Trojans launching a major NIL partnership with Stay Doubted, and the 2021-2022 USC Athletics season officially ending.

Grant Buckey Commits

USC picked up another commitment on Wednesday from three-star defensive lineman Grant Buckey.

On3 Consensus ranks Buckey as the number 445 player, and the number 54 defensive lineman in the class of 2023. The Bakersfield, California native officially visited USC this past weekend.

“I just liked the culture, the opportunities and the chance to win a national championship,” said Buckey about why he chose the Trojans.

The defensive lineman becomes USC’s ninth commit of the 2023 class. Of those nine commits, however, he is just the third on the defensive side of the ball.

Major NIL Partnership

USC made a major stride in the name, image, and likeness game yesterday with the announcement of a new NIL partnership with Stay Doubted.

The partnership will offer a professional service to help any USC student-athlete pursue NIL deals.

“From the moment the NCAA revised its rules regarding the use of NIL, President Carol L. Folt encouraged me to develop the best NIL support program in the nation for our student-athletes consistent with our vision to be the most student-athlete centered program in the country,” USC Director of Athletics Mike Bohn said in a statement. “We offer dozens of services to support all aspects of the student-athlete experience: coaching, medical, academic, nutrition, strength training, sports psychology, career planning, and so many more. NIL is a new dimension of the student-athlete experience, and we want to provide best-in-class services to our student-athletes in this area as we do all others.”

Athletics Season Officially Ends

With the track team officially wrapping up their season at the NCAA Championships this past weekend, the 2021-2022 USC Athletics season has officially come to a close.

It was certainly another successful year in Troy. The beach volleyball program took home another national championship, and the basketball team enjoyed one of the best regular seasons in program history. However, for most Trojan fans, the highlight of the year was definitely the hiring of Lincoln Riley to resurrect USC’s once-dominant football program.

Fortunately, the offseason at USC won’t last for long. We are only a little over two months away from the Trojans’ first athletic contests of the 2022-2023 season.
