WeAreSC On3 is a daily three-point briefing recapping news and notes surrounding USC Athletics. Today, we take a look at four-star cornerback Rodrick Pleasant naming his top six schools, some breakout candidates to watch for this season, and kickoff being just 50 days away.

Rodrick Pleasant’s Top Six

Four-star cornerback Rodrick Robinson recently cut his list of schools down to six, and USC was one of them.

A native of Gardena, California, On3 Consensus ranks Robinson as the number 111 overall player and the number three athlete in the class of 2023. In addition to USC, his top six consists of Boston College, Cal, Oregon, Penn State, and UCLA. As of now, On3 has the Trojans as heavy favorites to land Pleasant.

Breakout Candidates to Watch

Earlier this week, Pro Football Focus put out a list of 31 potential breakout candidates to watch for the 2022 college football season. Two USC players made the list.

One obvious inclusion was defensive lineman Korey Foreman. One of the highest-rated recruits in USC history, Foreman arrived on campus with monster expectations. However, his freshman campaign was a disappointingly quiet one. USC is hoping that the new coaching staff—including the arrival of defensive line coach Shaun Nua from Michigan—can help Foreman to reach his full potential.

In addition, defensive back Calen Bullock made the list. One could question whether Bullock has already “broken out” after being named a Freshman All-American last season. However, Bullock certainly still has plenty of room to grow, and looks to take his game to another level this season.

50 Days Until Kickoff

50 days from today, USC will officially open the Lincoln Riley era at the Coliseum against Rice.
