West Virginia cornerback Montre Miller has entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.

Miller exits from the Mountaineers program following just one year with the team, re-entering the transfer portal after transferring from Kent State to West Virginia ahead of the 2023 season. Confirming his re-entry into the transfer portal with a tweet on Tuesday.

After enrolling into West Virginia in January of 2023, Miller appearing in just one game last season for the Mountaineers. Recording three tackles in the team’s season opener against Penn State before missing the remainder of the season with an undisclosed injury that required surgery.

At Kent State, Miller appeared in 16 games with one start in his first three seasons with the Golden Flashes. Recording 16 tackles and two pass breakups before taking his game to another level the following two seasons as a full-time starter.

In 2021 Miller started in 13 games for Kent State, helping lead the team to a MAC Championship appearance behind 47 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions (led the team), nine pass breakups, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Followed by a 2022 season where he posted 52 tackles ,two interceptions, eight pass breakups, and forced fumble and fumble recovery yet again.

Miller played high school football at Westwood High School in Blythewood (SC), where he was a three-star prospect. Ranked the No. 1,741 overall recruit and the No. 272 wide receiver in the 2018 cycle, according to On3’s Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Miller was seeking out a waiver for eligibility following his recent season-ending injury, which he was granted as he’ll look to join a new team ahead of the 2024 season as a graduate transfer in what will be his seventh college football season. Entering the portal with 42 career games played under his belt, 25 career starts, and 116 total tackles to go along with his six career interceptions.
