West Virginia quarterback Sean Boyle and wide receiver EJ Horton have both entered the NCAA transfer portal, per On3’s Pete Nakos.

Part of West Virginia’s 2023 recruiting class, Boyle was a three-star prospect coming out of Charlotte Catholic High School in North Carolina. Boyle enrolled at West Virginia in January of 2023 but did not see any game time on the field during the 2023 season.

Horton came to West Virginia in May of 2023. A former Colorado State wideout, Horton committed to play for Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes in early May last year. That commitment lasted only 10 days, as Horton would then changed his commitment to West Virginia. Horton had 10 catches for 201 yards and one touchdown during his lone season with the Mountaineers.

Since the spring window of the transfer portal opened up, West Virginia has not seen any players depart the program, until now. The last listed transfer for the Mountaineers before this was linebacker Lance Dixon in late January. However, West Virginia saw a lot of portal movement earlier in the cycle.

The Mountaineers currently sit with 19 players departing the program during the 2024 transfer portal cycle as a whole, prior to these entries. On the other side of things, West Virginia has seen eight players come into the program this cycle.

West Virginia comes off of a 9-4 season that ended in a victory in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. It was the most successful season for head coach Neal Brown, who is 31-29 in his five seasons with the program.
