West Virginia RB Jahiem White leaves game against Penn State in second quarter
West Virginia has been dealt a major blow, as running back Jahiem White left their Week 1 clash with Penn State in the second quarter due to a wrist injury.
With the Mountaineers down 10 prior to halftime, FOX’s Jenny Taft provided an update, which wasn’t exactly on the positive side.
“Jahiem White is now leaving early for the locker room. He’s holding his left wrist. Unfortunately, he was pretty disheveled going into the tent,” Taft said. “Obviously, emotions are high. Jahiem White, this game means a lot to him. He actually spent sometime in Pennsylvania as a young kid. His teacher, he calls her his Godmother, was a Penn State fan. He didn’t get the offer from Penn State.
“He wants to be a factor in this game, he wants to show up against this team. I’ll keep you posted on the latest with him after the break.”

Before leaving the game with an injury, Jahiem White carried the ball five times for 32 yards. He also caught two passes for seven yards. It remains to be seen whether he returns to the game in the second half.
Neal Brown addresses if he’s using end of last year’s game as motivation vs. Penn State
Meanwhile, Penn State tacked on a late touchdown last season against West Virginia, scoring with six seconds remaining in the game in its 38-15 win. West Virginia head coach coach Neal Brown hasn’t forgotten about the Nittany Lions late score, but he also isn’t necessarily using it as motivation.
Brown was asked at his press conference on Monday if he bas brought up the late touchdown in an effort to motivate his team.

“It just is what it is, you know,” Brown said. “Like, I’m really not using it. It just kind of is what it is, you know. Like, they scored late. I don’t really have necessarily a problem with it. … But it is what it is.”
Brown added that if his West Virginia team needs a late touchdown from a season ago to get motivated against its rival, the Mountaineers have some other issues to sort out.
“Here’s the thing, like, if our guys need something like that to motivate them, then eh,” Brown said. “But I will say this, the score of the game’s the score of the game. And we didn’t play very well.”
Penn State led only 14-7 at the half of last year’s game, before bulling away over the final 30 minutes. The Nittany Lions led 31-7 at one point, before West Virginia scored and cut the lead to 31-15 with 3:34 remaining.
Penn State then drove back down the field and scored with less than 10 seconds left for the final 38-15 margin.
