Western Michigan running back Jaden Nixon has entered the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned.

Nixon is coming off a monster campaign for the Broncos, having run 143 times for 921 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also added 10 catches for 77 yards.

As a result, he’s likely to be a highly coveted piece in the transfer portal in the winter cycle.

Before enrolling at Western Michigan, Jaden Nixon spent three seasons at Oklahoma State. He ran for 525 yards on 124 career carries, notching two touchdown runs.

But Nixon was also quite a good pass-catcher while at Oklahoma State. He totaled 347 yards receiving and four touchdown catches.

Jaden Nixon also has some special teams skills as a return man. He recorded one touchdown return for the Cowboys and 664 yards on 28 attempts.

Before he enrolled at Oklahoma State back in 2021, Jaden Nixon was ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 1,028 overall recruit in the 2021 recruiting class. He also checked in as the No. 79 running back in the class and the No. 152 overall player in the state of Texas, hailing from Frisco (TX) Lone Star.

Oklahoma State lands an SEC transfer

Jaden Nixon isn’t the only player with ties to Oklahoma State to have made a move in the transfer portal recently. A former SEC defensive back just joined the Cowboys via the portal.

Former LSU cornerback JK Johnson will transfer to play for Oklahoma State this upcoming season, On3’s Pete Nakos reported. Johnson played the past two seasons with the Tigers after beginning his career at Ohio State and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Johnson suffered an injury before his first year at LSU and sat out the entire 2023 season to take a medical redshirt. He returned this year to play in 10 games, finishing with three total tackles.

The 6-foot-1 cornerback attended DeSmet High School in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was a four-star prospect in the 2021 class. He ranked as the No. 54 overall player and No. 4 cornerback in the cycle according On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3’s Chandler Vessels also contributed to this report.
