Des Moines (Iowa) Southeast Polk five-star offensive tackle and Iowa commit Kadyn Proctor visited Oregon this past weekend on an official visit.

Steve Wiltfong of 247 Sports said the visit was one in the making well before the actual date — but he isn’t sure if one party knew about it.

“It’s one that was in the works for a while but I don’t think Iowa knew about it,” Wiltfong said. “Anytime that happens, you kind of wonder what’s really going on here.”

ScoopDuck’s Justin Hopkins wrote the following on the trip: “Kadyn and his mother wanted to get into town under the radar and really try and enjoy this trip.”

Proctor is the No. 10 overall prospect and No. 2 offensive tackle in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

If Lanning is able to flip Proctor, he would become the third five-star commit in the 2023 Ducks recruiting class.

“But I think that going into the visit, it seemed like there was a ton of momentum with Oregon here obviously getting him on campus for an official visit,” Wiltfong said. “Talking to some other people, they say Kadyn’s just simply trying to make sure that Iowa’s the right decision for him and that he still holds Iowa in very, very high regard.”

Proctor is the cornerstone of the 2023 Hawkeyes recruiting class and his departure would be a major loss for the program.

However, Wiltfong believes the Iowa staff is confident that Proctor will be staying true to his commitment.

“I don’t know if there’s much concern around Iowa City with Kadyn in the long run, but I do think that he is excited about Oregon and went out to visit,” Wiltfong said. “He’s kept in touch with with the Duck staff and likes the way that we’re going to build that program up. Oregon has certainly put themselves in the equation here. What will happen, time will tell.”

Proctor has an On3 NIL Valuation of $264k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
