Sean Miller gets his second four-star commitment in the 2023 class. Reid Ducharme is a bonafide shooter, but more than that, he showed during Nike’s Peach Jam he can be a bucket-getter.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) says Xavier has a 91.7 percent chance of landing the 6-foot-6 wing. I set my expert pick into RPM for the four-star to choose Xavier on July 18. I gave my pick a confidence rating of 75.

Ducharme took official visits to Syracuse, Xavier, and Penn State. Let’s explore what the 2023 On3 Consensus No. 83 player would bring to Sean Miller’s Musketeers.

Ducharme’s game

Floor spacing is the low-hanging fruit of what Reid Ducharme will bring to the next level. The 6-6 wing can really shoot the ball. During his seven games at Peach Jam, he knocked down 20 threes, 2.9 per game, at a 35.1 percent clip.

Ducharme has great balance on his shot; he is equally adept at shooting off the bounce as he is coming off movement. He has a high and repeatable release on the jump shot with a soft touch. His range extends well beyond the three-point arc. On threes taken during Peach Jam, Synergy Ducharme scored 1.128 points per three taken.

Taking his scoring breakdown a bit further, Ducharme was equally effective shooting off the bounce as he was off the catch at Peach Jam. He scored 1.067 points per possession when he shot a catch-and-shoot jumper. He scored 1.08 points per possession with all jump shots off the bounce.

Ducharme showed more than just the jump shot during the week. He attacked closeouts with a purpose. Throughout the seven games, Ducharme got to the free-throw line over five times per game. He also added 2.6 assists and 1.4 rebounds a game.

While he will be labeled a shooter, Ducharme is becoming an all-around scorer. He is an opportune wing defender who understands rotations, team defense, and is aggressive in the passing lanes.

Xavier’s 2023 class

Sean Miller is only a couple of weeks removed from receiving his first commitment of the 2023 class. Four-star point guard, On3’s No. 65 ranked player Trey Green.

Ducharme is Xavier’s second commitment of the class, adding to the backcourt depth moving forward.

Miller’s first high school class, 2022, also signed two four-star backcourt players. Combo guard Desmond Claude and wing Kam Craft.
